Occupational English Test Preparation Course
The OET preparation course aims to provide candidates with the English skills and knowledge they require to succeed in the the Occupational English Test.

Test Valid For 2 Years
Due to the very specific nature of each course and the flexibility usually required by our students the course is provided on a one to one basis.
Course Duration
The number of classes required will depend mainly on your initial language level which is determined at the time of enrolment. (Minimum 10 hours)

Pay Your Deposit
Enrolment on a course is accepted once payment of the deposit (£100) or full courses fees are received and conditional on space being available.
The balance of fees is to be paid 4 weeks prior to the course start date.
Cancellation of a course will result in the loss of the deposit. Any refund for cancellation due to illness is at the school’s discretion.
Once a course has commenced no refund can be made for leaving before the end of the course.
Suzanne Sparrow Plymouth Language School, its staff and representatives will not be liable for any loss, damage, illness, injury or accident to persons or property. Adequate insurance provision should be made prior to commencement of course.
TEST STRUCTURE
Listening Test
50 Minutes
Generic healthcare interest, accessible to candidates across all professions.
Tests a range of listening skills, such as identifying specific information, detail, gist, opinion or the speaker’s purpose.
Reading Test
60 Minutes
Generic healthcare interest, accessible to candidates across all professions.
Tests the ability to:
- Skim and scan quickly across different texts on a given topic in order to locate specific information.
- Understand the detail, gist or main point of complex texts commonly found in the healthcare workplace
- Understand the explicit or implied meaning as well as the attitude or opinion presented in a longer text.
Writing Test
45 Minutes
The Writing test is profession-specific. There is one task set for each profession based on a typical workplace situation and the demands of that profession.
Assessment is on:
- Conciseness & Clarity
- Genre & Style
- Organisation & Layout
- Language
Speaking Test
20 Minutes
Delivered individually and takes around 20 minutes. Materials specifically designed for your profession are used in role-pays, which are based on typical workplace situations and reflect the demands made on a health professional in those situations.
